FRIENDS OF THE CHILD

A non-profit organization, founded in Athens in 1987, focuses on the protection and care of children that suffer from severe health problems or come from destitute families.

The organization provides clothing and food and aims at the improvement of each family’s living conditions by supplying household goods, heating and payment of utility bills. 

It also offers tuition fees, school equipment and financial support for children excelling in their studies. It provides home-nursing for vaccinations, basic hygiene and correct nutrition, as well as family vacations at hotels and holiday camps.

A specialized psychologist assists single mothers by offering group and individual consultative and supportive services.

Since 2007, Friends of the Child is operating a Child Care Centre for the children of single mothers in Metaxourgio, in Athens.
